Paul Johnson  > RAILWAYS > MODERN BRTISH RAILWAYS > FENLAND RAILWAY FOTOS
Included here are pictures all taken between Peterborough East Junction and Ely North Junction, all of the Queen Adelaide crossings included and the erstwhile Wisbech Branch. Some of the old 35mm slides from the '80's are a bit blurry but then those were the days of 65ASA film, 1/125th and Focus DIY. These are probably best looked at in large format. These pictures are published for pleasure/information/research purposes only and are not for sale or copy under any circumstances. Information in captions has been researched as thoroughly as possible but its accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

Class 950 999600/999601, track assessment unit, built in 1987 in a 'Sprinter' body shell - passes Horsemoor eastbound, 02/07/98.
COLCHESTER BREAKDOWN CRANE - this too had been disbanded and the support vehicles arrive at Whitemoor for storage, en route for scrap, 11/87.
DB950076, an ex-LMS brakevan built by British Railways, 07/85. A large batch of these vans was building at Nationalisation and was finished by BR. These were my favourites - I always fancied one as summerhouse.
DB993913 is a BR 'Shark' type plough brakevan, type ZUV (vacuum braked). These were used usually one at each end of a ballast train and, after the stones had been dropped, the large ploughs were lowered by means of the large 'ship's wheel' on the platform to spread the ballast. Here in Whitemoor, 08/85.
DE320921 was the Mess Coach for the March Brakedown Crane, 12/86.
DE 321072 is a train heating van, 10 built in the early '60's I believe, most ending up dumped in March steam shed sidings. Numbered in the LNER number range because they were built on old LNER plate wagon frames. Someone has gone to a lot of effort doing this one but I don't know if it was ever preserved.
DM281829 in Whitemoor Yard before it was seriously vandalised, perhaps by the ferryvan behind it, 11/86.
DM281829, a Midland Railway pattern brakevan, totally vandalised by over enthusiastic shunitng in Whitemoor Yard. Its not often you see a wagon parked inside a brakevan! 11/86.
DM478332 come to grief outside March East Box, 02/88. I don't remember how it came to be here but it was there for some weeks, having lost its wheels shortly after the accident, 27/02/88. You can still see the hole where crane fell through.
