  • Class 110 - 51815 - built 1961 by BRCW in 3-car sets for Calder Valley services around Leeds - most reduced to 2-car sets by 1982 - all withdrawn by 1988 - seen here at York in July 1977.
  • Class 110 - 52077 - built 1961 by BRCW in 3-car sets for Calder Valley services around Leeds - most reduced to 2-car sets by 1982 - all withdrawn by 1988 - seen here at Leeds.
  • Class 111 - 50270/59100/50280 - 23 train sets built in 2/3-car units by Metro-Cammell from 1957 to 1960 - main difference to Class 101 was Rolls Royce engines - last units withdrawn in 1989 - seen here on Leeds - Bridlington/Scarborough train at York in June 1978.
  • Class 112/113 - Cravens 2-car power twin, 50 units built in 1960, half with mechanical transmission (Class 112) and half with hydraulic transmission (Class 113) - built for MR services in Lancashire and Yorkshire - all withdrawn by 1969 - seen here are two units, on the left for Blackburn, on the right for Leeds.
  • Class 112/113 - Cravens 2-car power twin, 50 units built in 1960, half with mechanical transmission (Class 112) and half with hydraulic transmission (Class 113) - built for MR services in Lancashire and Yorkshire - all withdrawn by 1969 - seen here at Colne with a train for Skipton.
  • Class 114 2-car 'Derby Heavywieght' DMU pulls out of Heckington on a Skegness - Grantham train.
  • Class 116 - 53052/54284 - 2-car West Midlands Suburban set, 320 vehicles built by Derby Works between 1957 and 1961, running in 2 or 3-car sets, mainly on local services around Birmingham - all withdrawn by 1995 - seen here at Derby on a stopping service to Birmingham New Street.
  • Class 117 - 51359/59511/51401 (L421) - Pressed Steel 3-car DMU, 39 built in 1959 for use on Paddington suburban services, around Cardiff and in Cornwall. They moved around over the years, the last being withdrawn form the Marston Vale services in 2000 - seen here at Didcot on an Oxford - Paddington service in August 1981.
  • Class 117 - Pressed Steel 3-car DMU, 39 built in 1959 for use on Paddington suburban services, around Cardiff and in Cornwall. They moved around over the years, the last being withdrawn form the Marston Vale services in 2000. Unit seen here is bound for Paddington - note tail lamp.
  • Class 120 - Cross Country 3-car DMU, 58 sets for WR, 7 for ScR, built by Swindon Works from 1958 - some later moved to Midland Region services from Birmingham - seen here bound for Plymouth is a later set with headcode box.

  • Class 121 - 55020 - one of 16 single-car DMU built by Pressed Steel in 1960 for suburban service on Outer London branch lines like the Greenford Branch - seen here on an Ealing Broadway train propelling one of the 10 trailers especially built to strengthen them at peak times.
  • Class 121 - 55031 - Pressed Steel single car DMU, built 1960, class of 16 for Western Region branch line use - several still in use - seen here at Woburn Sands on a Marston Vale service.
  • Class 121 - Pressed Steel single car unit, built in 1960, at Windsor & Eton Central, paired with one of the 10 Driving Trailers specially built to augment their capacity, 04/60.
  • Class 122 - 20 single car units built by Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Works in 1958 - DB975042, previously 55019, was withdrawn November 1969 and converted into a Route Learning Car. As such, it was withdrawn in October 1987 and is now preserved - seen here at Carlisle Kingmoor in April 1970.
  • Class 122 - 55009 - 20 single car units built by Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Works in 1958 - 01/95 withdrawn - seen here at Carlisle on May 1978.
  • Class 123 - BR 4-car Intercity DMU, 10 sets built by Swindon Works in 1963 using Mk.1 coach bodies, designed for Western Region middle-distance commuter services - all withdrawn by 1984 - seen here a 3-car set leading a 4-car set.
  • Class 124 - BR 6-car Trans Pennine DMU, built in 1960 by Swindon Works - later reduced to 4-car sets - replaced by Class 31's and 4 coaches in 1984.
