  • Class 158 - 158 796 - 2-car 'Sprinter' DMU built in 1989 br BREL, Derby Works - still in service with Northern Rail, as seen here.
  • Class 185 - 185 104 - 3-car 'Desiro' Class DMU built in 2006 by Siemens, Germany, one of 51 sets built for Trans Pennine Services - still in service with First Trans Pennine Express.
  • Class 185 - 185 106 - 3-car 'Desiro' Class DMU built in 2006 by Siemens, Germany, one of 51 sets built for Trans Pennine Services - still in service with First Trans Pennine Express - seen here at Doncaster.
  • Class 185 125 - 3-car 'Desiro' Class DMU built in 2006 by Siemens, Germany, one of 51 sets built for Trans Pennine Services - still in service with First Trans Pennine Express - seen here at Cleethorpes
  • Class 201 - 1001 - Hastings Line 6-car DEMU, Type 6S, 7 units built for services on the Hastings - Charing Cross services (Service 22) - seen here on delivery from Eastleigh Works to the Eastern Section at Clapham Junction on February 6th, 1957 - 05/86 withdrawn and preserved.
  • Class 201 - 1005 - Hastings Line 6-car DEMU, Type 6S, 7 units built for services on the Hastings - Charing Cross services (Service 22) - withdrawn 04/86 and scrapped - an early view with no yellow ends.
  • Class 203 - 1036 - 7 x 6-car diesel-electric units built in 1958 to the narrow Hastings Line gauge with a buffet car, third vehicle in this picture. The buffet cars were all withdrawn in the 1980's and Class 203 ran as 5-car units thereafter - all were withdrawn by 1990, when the Hastings Line was widened and electrified, although one is preserved.
  • Class 205 - 1128 - final batch of 7 3-car DEMU's built in 1962 for services based around Reading - renumbered to 205 028 and withdrawn in November 2004 by Connex - preserved on Dartmoor Railway - seen here at Winchester in August 1964.
  • Class 207 - 207 001 - 3-car DEMU, built 1962 by Eastleigh Works as No.1301 for services on non-electrified lines in Sussex - withdrawn 04/94.
  • Class 207 - 1309 - 3-car DEMU, built 1962 by Eastleigh Works for services on non-electrified lines in Sussex - 1973 to 207 009 - withdrawn 09/87.
  • Class 251 - built in 1960 by Metro Cammell, 2x6-car sets for the Midland Region and 3x8car sets for the Western Region, one of which is seen here in 1970's livery. All were withdrawn during 1973.
  • Class 302 - 302 253 - 4-car EMU, 112 units built 1958 by BR Doncaster/York Works for LTSR services - all refurbished 1981/82 - all withdrawn by 1999 - seen here in a fire tunnel, burning off surplus materials, prior to scrapping.
  • Class 302 - 302 305 - 4-car EMU, 112 units built 1958 by BR Doncaster/York Works for LTSR services - all refurbished 1981/82 - all withdrawn by 1999 - seen here at Grays on a Shoeburyness - Fenchurch Street train in August 1979.
  • Class 303 - 91 x 3-car Class AM3 sets built 1959 by Pressed Steel for Clydeside suburban services, known locally as the 'Blue Trains'.- the last unit was withdrawn in December 2002 after over 40 years of service.
  • Class 303 - 303 050 - 91 x 3-car Class AM3 sets built 1959 by Pressed Steel for Clydeside suburban services, known locally as the 'Blue Trains' - mid 1980's a number of units transferred to Manchester area - all of these withdrawn by 1996 - the last unit was withdrawn in December 2002 - seen here on the 1532 Alderley Edge - Altrincham service at Manchester Piccadiily in October 1983.
  • Class 304 - 304 003 - 45 4-car units built in 1960 by BR Wolverton Works for West Coast Mainline local services - early 1980's refurbished and reduced to 3-car, to Class 304/1 - all withdrawn by March 1996 - seen here at Birmingham New Street in July 1983 before refurbishment.
  • Class 304 - 304 039 - 45 4-car units built in 1960 by BR Wolverton Works for West Coast Mainline local services - early 1980's refurbished and reduced to 3-car, to Class 304/1 - all withdrawn by March 1996 - seen here at Liverpool Lime Street in March 1984 before refurbishment.
  • Class 305 - 305 408 - 71 Class AM5 3 or 4-car units built 1959/60 by Doncaster and York Works for outer suburban services from Liverpool Street - replaced in the late 80's/early 90's and most transferred to Manchester area, the remainder going to Edinburgh to work North Berwick trains - all withdrawn by 2002.
  • Class 306 - 306 005 - 92 3-car sets built by Metro-Cammell & BRCW from 1949 - LNER design built with second-hand Gresley bogies for GEML inner suburban services - all withdrawn in the early 1980's - seen here at Stratford on a Gidea Park service in April 1979.
