FENLAND CLASS 03, 08 & 09

Included here are pictures all taken between Peterborough East Junction and Ely North Junction, all of the Queen Adelaide crossings included and the erstwhile Wisbech Branch. Some of the old 35mm slides from the '80's are a bit blurry but then those were the days of 65ASA film, 1/125th and Focus DIY. These are probably best looked at in large format. 08507 shunts a double rake of autoballasters in Whitemoor, 15/09/23.

  • 08427, sans coupling rods, at March Depot, 03/88. This loco was officially withdrawn in November 1986 but I'm sure that it was still in use well after that date.
  • 08427, withdrawn 11/86, and 08518, withdrawn 05/86, have been dumped in the steam shed sidings with a rake of redundant brakevans, 28/07/87.
  • 08428 is Travelling Pilot and is propelling this Engineer's train wrong road back to Whitemoor to turn it, 01/06/87. The Travelling Pilot was the Class 08 assigned to take wagons to/from Whitemoor and the Up/Down Yards.
  • 08493 and 08427 shunt around the Depot at March, 28/09/84.
  • 08493 drags 25195 towards March Depot from March Down Loop, 25/10/84.
  • 08493 is Travelling Pilot and is working a rake of LWR wagons back to Whtiemoor, 25/10/84.
  • 08496 stands next to the crane siding at March Depot, sans coupling rods, for a wheelset change, 08/09/85.

  • 08526 crosses Station Road LC en route from March Down Yard to Whitemoor, 06/81.
