FENLAND MISCELLANEOUS STOCK

Included here are pictures all taken between Peterborough East Junction and Ely North Junction, all of the Queen Adelaide crossings included and the erstwhile Wisbech Branch. Some of the old 35mm slides from the '80's are a bit blurry but then those were the days of 65ASA film, 1/125th and Focus DIY. These are probably best looked at in large format. These pictures are published for pleasure/information/research purposes only and are not for sale or copy under any circumstances. Information in captions has been researched as thoroughly as possible but its accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

Class 442 - Now being withdrawn by SWT, further use is being sought for these units and in the meantime they are in warm storage at Papworth's at Ely North Junction. At least 2 Class 47/8's are stationed here to keep the traction motors turning over whilst other locos from ROG drag the units up here. At least 13 new sidings have been laid with access from the southern (Ely) end and each siding seems to able to hold 3 of the 5-car sets, more than enough room for all. Here 442 420 has a ROG Class 47 turning over its motors, 17/11/16. There have been some units removed recently, presumably for rotation with those units still in traffic.
