FENLAND SECOND GENERATION DIESEL MULTIPLE UNITS

Included here are pictures taken of Second Generation DMU's, including those few DEMU's we've had long here, between Peterborough East Junction and Ely North Junction, all of the Queen Adelaide crossings included and the erstwhile Wisbech Branch. Some of the old 35mm slides from the '80's are a bit blurry but then those were the days of 65ASA film, 1/125th and Focus DIY. These are probably best looked at in large format. These pictures are published for pleasure/information/research purposes only and are not for sale or copy under any circumstances.   • Class 170 204 slows for its Manea stop on 2E78 Ipswich - Peterborough, the 1509 from here, 09/05/18.
  • Class 170 205 approaches Badgeney Road AHB on a Norwich Crown Point - Tyseley TMD stock move, 27/11/19. I fear this may well be the last we see of this unit. I think that, at this date, GA were down to only 1 Turbostar remaining.
  • Class 170 205 approaches Horsemoor AHB on 2E78 1358 Ipswich - Peterborough, 16/10/19.
  • Class 170 205 heads east through Manes on a Peterborough - Liverpool Street train, 14/05/05.
  • Class 170 205 passes Badgeney Road AHB on a Norwich Crown Point - Tyseley TMD stock move, 27/11/19. I fear this may well be the last we see of this unit. I think that, at this date, GA were down to only 1 Turbostar remaining.
  • Class 170 205 slows for its Manea stop on 1E76 Ipswich - Petrerborough, the 1311 from Manea, 17/05/14.
  • Class 170 206 crests the climb from Ely North Junction with a Cambridge - Norwich train at Queen Adelaide (Norwich) AHB, 11/11/10.
  • Class 170 206 heads west at Welney Road AHB on a Liverpool Street - Peterborough train, 07/05/05. Note centre car is a different colour.
  • Class 170 207 passes Australia Farm No.64 OC on an Ipswich - Peterborough train, 27/03/07. This really was a diabolical livery and I, for one, was glad to see the back of it.
  • Class 170 207 passes Horsemoor on a Peterborough - Ipswich service, 11/10/99.
  • Class 170 207 stands in Manea Station on 1E75 Peterborough - Ipswich, the 1217 from Manea, 17/05/14.
  • Class 170 208 departs Whittlesea on the 1130 to Peterborough, 15/11/05.
  • Class 170 208 in advertising livery approaches Silt Road LC on 1E78 Ipswich - Peterborough, 08/09/14.
  • Class 170 208 in advertising livery passes Silt Road LC on 1E78 Ipswich - Peterborough, 08/09/14.
  • Class 170 208 slows for its Whittlesea stop as it passes Harts Drove on the 1212 Peterborough - Ipswich train, 20/03/02.
  • Class 170 208 slows to stop at Whittlesea's Platform 1 with a Peterborough - Liverpool Street train - the platforms here are only 2 cars long - 09/12/10.
  • Class 170 270 approaches Manea Station on 2L77 Peterborough - Ipswich, the 1417 from Manea, 09/05/18.
  • Class 170 270 in the truly hideous ONE livery slows to stop at Whittlesea Station on the 1555 to Liverpool Street, 18/08/06.
  • Class 170 270 in unbranded GA livery passes Badgeney Road AHB on 5Z70 Norwich - Cardiff Canton Sidings, transferred to TFW, 11/09/19. This may be the last time I ever see it!
