LOCOMOTIVES OF THE EAST & WEST YORKSHIRE UNION RAILWAY
The East & West Yorkshire Union Railway (E&WYUR) opened on 20th May 1891. Despite its grand title, it was really just a glorified colliery line that connected with the GNR Leeds-Doncaster line to the south of Leeds. Passenger services on the line ran for only 8 months before being abandoned in August 1904. The various colliery branches were gradually closed as mining in the area declined, the last section closing in October 1966.
