97545 heads south through Huntingdon with departmental units 975089/975090 in tow, 05/05/89. This engine was 47545 until 09/88, was then renumbered to 97545 in the departmental number series and renumbered again to 47972 in 08/89, being withdrawn in 11/98. 975089 and 975090 were a Class 103 Park Royal DMU, previuosly numbered 50396/56162. They were withdrawn in January 1967 and passed into departmental stock at RTC in June 1970 as track recording cars. They served in this role until final withdrawal in March 1990.

97545 heads south through Huntingdon with departmental units 975089/975090 in tow, 05/05/89.   • 86901, seen here with 86902, heads south from Rugby on a test run around the Northampton Loop, 22/12/04. These locos had been newly converted to mobile load banks for Network Rail. It was previously 86210.

  • 97403 IXION, ex 46035, ex D172, stands outside Toton Depot, 05/85. Withdrawn November 1984, it lasted until September 1990 as 97403 and is now preserved.

  • 97800 IVOR was renumbered from 08600 in 1979 for use as Slade Green Depot Shunter, where it is seen in April 1982. It was returned to capital stock in 1990 as 08600.
  • ADB968002, withdrawn in March 1969 as D8237, is now a non-powered carriage heating unit at Toton Depot, where seen 03/11/84. It was scrapped in April 1985.

  • ADB968013, erstwhile 31013, was stationed at Great Yarmouth for a number of years to pre-heat carriage stock. This was taken in about 1981. It was scrapped in August 1983.
  • ADB968024, ex 45017, sits in the training compound at Toton Depot, 20/09/85. These locos were used for re-railing training amongst other things. It was scrapped in November 1991.
  • Class 100 'Stourton Saloon' 975664/975637 was the last of the class and was used as the Eastern Region Inspection Saloon, seen here on the Up Main at Huntingdon, 17/03/87.
  • Class 121 - 977568, ex 55029, heads north through Nuneaton, spotlights blazing, as it films the track, 03/02/03.
  • Class 121 - 977968, ex 55029, approaches Stafford filming the track, owned by Eurailscout GB, 26/06/02. This un it is now preserved.
  • Class 122 55012, in it's anomalous Loadhaul livery, heads north through Carlisle on a driver training duty, 25/08/99.
  • Class 150 999 600/999 601, track recording unit based on a Class 150 bodyframe, passes south through Ipswich, 04/09/98.
  • Class 150 999600/999601 , 'Sprinter' turned Test Train, arrives at Edinburgh Waverley from Glasgow Central, 26/10/99, where I saw it the previous day.
