SECOND GENERATION ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNITS (AC)
Included in this gallery are units that are both AC and DC but all are shown operating in AC mode. These are Second Generation EMU's, that is units built from the 1970's to 2000. Pictures taken all over the British railway network in the last 30 years or so. Some of the old 35mm slides are a bit blurry but then those were the days of 65ASA film, 1/125th and Focus DIY. Class 319 010 leaves Bedford for St Pancras as the last unit of 3, 06/04/88. The Snow Hill Tunnel was not yet open so these units, still new, only ran to London. This unit has been converted to a to bi-mode Class 768 parcels unit 768 001 for Rail Operations Group to services between Liverpool Street and London Gateway.
