OPEN DAY - OLD OAK COMMON DIESEL DEPOT, 1972 - Held on the weekend of September 2nd/3rd, 1972, I remember attending this Open Day. This was still the early days and I remember being horrified and gratified at the sight of a Hymek crawling with people like ants on dead caterpillar, dragging great lumps off it and nearly killing themselves in the process - no such thing as H&S then! I particularly enjoyed myself because most of the hydraulics were withdrawn or derelict. All three Warships were only a few weeks away from withdrawal, D7019 and D7037 went two weeks later, D7036 had been withdrawn in June and D7050 went in November.

D7036 was the loco from which parts could be removed at 10p per go.
