  • OPEN DAY - STRATFORD DIESEL DEPOT, 1979 - Stratford was always a difficult depot to bunk because of the amount of wasteland - it was difficult to find anything to hide behind! I did manage it on a number of occasions in the late '60's/early '70's though. This official Open Day was held on July 14th, 1979, and was well attended if this ticket number is anything to go by. The Liverpool Street Pilot usually wore an approximation of GER livery. The Class 31/0's were all on the brink of withdrawal, half of the class having gone already.<br />

  • OPEN DAY - STRATFORD TRACTION MAINTENANCE DEPOT, 1981 (2) - A short description of the facilities available at Stratford TMD in 1981. Of course, nearly 30 years later, there is not a trace of it remaining.
  • OPEN DAY - STRATFORD TRACTION MAINTENANCE DEPOT, 1981 (3) - Stratford Class 47's - 47170 was a very early recipient of Large Logo Blue and both have Stratford's signature Light Grey roofs. Is it my imagination or just the photographs but do the yellow ends look very dark?
  • OPEN DAY - STRATFORD TRACTION MAINTENANCE DEPOT, 1981 (4) - The Depot's allocation of locos, by class, as of June 1st, 1981.
  • OPEN DAY - STRATFORD TRACTION MAINTENANCE DEPOT, 1981 (5) - A map and plan of the TMD. When you were bunking the depot on a Saturday afternoon, the walk from the subway to the depot itself felt like crossing No Man's Land and always elicited an audible sigh of relief is successfully negotiated!
