NON-STANDARD 'EMPIRE' SHIPS
These pictures are of ships with 'Empire' names but from a variety of sources. Some are captured enemy vessels, some are salvaged Allied vessels that have been returned to service, some are requisitioned vessels taken up from trade and some are from other sources. Also, a large number of old American merchant vessels, built to various standard designs during World War I and then placed in Reserve, were bought, often in appalling condition, and repaired in British shipyards. These pictures are published for pleasure/information/research purposes only and are not for sale or copy under any circumstances. Information in captions has been researched as thoroughly as possible but it accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
